Ever watch a bird take off? They don’t sit on the ground and flap one wing and then the other and walk away. They flap their wings and soar up into the air. Ever watch or feel an airplane take off? It goes full throttle and races down the runway and lifts off nose pointed up in the air. After it reaches cruising altitude, it levels off and cuts back the throttle a bit. You have that exact choice with your business. Actually you have two choices.
You can go full throttle and really get up off the ground and get your home business up to speed. You can get up early, work focused, work smart and maybe even work 12 hour days. You can do this for a short time period and really get your business launched. Then you can level off and know that your residual income will kick in and supplement your personal production.
Or choice number two is work at a slightly lower level of energy and output and continue to do that for the rest of your life. Ouch, that option does not appeal to me.
Ok, what does it take to go full throttle and soar with the eagles – achieve with the top producers. Actually it is quite simple.
Associate with eagles. Spend your time around positive, forward thinking, learning, growing, achieving individuals. It has nothing to do with age, or background, or gender, or education, or even intelligence, it is purely attitude, belief and focused desire. It’s like a lock. Regardless of all the other things mentioned above, if you have the combination to the lock, it opens. Soaring with the eagles really depends on finding the person with the focused determination, belief and positive attitude who is willing to be consistent and persistent in taking action. All the positive affirmations and dreams in the world come to naught without focused goal-oriented consistent action.
Do what the eagles do. Be on the live calls. Listen to the recorded calls. Take the notes and implement the actions. Follow the ideas they give you and put them into action.
Attend the live events. Take a tape recorder and ask the top producers what they do. Ask what they read. Ask what challenges they face and how they overcome them. Charlie Tremendous Jones says it’s not how hard you fall; it’s how high you bounce. We all have set backs and disappointments. Yes, even the top leaders face situations. It’s how you react to them that’s important. It’s not what happens to you but how you deal with it. Ask the leaders what they face and how they handle those challenges. Learn and grow. Top producers will share; ask them. That is always easier face to face at a live event.
Read for 30 minutes every day, preferably first thing in the morning to start your day off on a great note. Read something educational, inspirational, and something pertinent to your life and your business. Every great leader is a reader. Build your library. Jim Rohn says his mentor started him building his library when Jim was 25 and it turned his life from pennies in his pocket to a multi millionaire. Pass up a meal but never pass up a good book. Most great leaders set their goal to read a book a week.
Turn your car into a rolling university. If you drive 20,000 miles a year, that is over 333 hours. 333 hours breaks down to the equivalent of six 3 hour college classes a year. That is full semester and a half for a full time college student. You can gain an entire college education just driving around for the next 4 or 5 years. Successful people do not even know if their car radio works. We listen to valuable informative materials. Personally I listen to cds when I am on the treadmill every morning. Listen to your iPod when you take walks or even when you are doing work around the house or yard. Use your time productively.
Scott Alexander talks about the difference between the cows and the rhinos. Brian Tracy talks about the eagles and the turkeys. You never send a turkey to eagle school, he’ll never fly. You decide if you are a rhino or an eagle. If you were a cow or a turkey, you would go back to your job. The mere fact that you are here tells me you have rhino or eagle blood flowing through your veins. Learn how to soar with the eagles.
Only 2 per cent of the population is capable of working without supervision. Once again, the eagles test their wings and learn how to soar. You have already proved you are a leader. You’re here. You have invested in yourself and your business. Now make it pay. Learn, grow, be all that you can be. Prove to yourself that you are an eagle.
