Every life has a few turning points. As humans, we have the unique ability to make a decision, act on it and turn on a dime. Animals are governed by impulse and instinct. Salmon return home to spawn, Geese fly south in the winter. Genetic code dictates and they obey. A lion couldn’t suddenly choose to be a vegetarian anymore than a cow could choose to win on a race track against thoroughbred race horses. Only a human can make a decision and change anything and everything about their lives. Press the reset button and do it over. Call a mulligan. Press ctrl, alt, delete, wipe the slate clean and start over.
Successful people will tell you, “I remember the exact moment when I made the decision.” “That was the decision that turned my life around and started it all.” “I’m so grateful I made the decision.” You’re screaming silently in your head, “tell me what the decision is and I’ll make it too.” An alcoholic remembers the turning point when they decided “no more.” They stopped drinking or popping pills or whatever their poison of choice.
For Andy Andrews it was being handed 3 biographies when he was twenty three years old. Winston Churchill, Will Rogers and George Washington Carver were the first three of some 200 biographies Andy read. Andy’s turning point was deciding to read those books and start getting his life back on track.
Some people reach that turning point at 15, others at 50, others over and over in life and some never at all.
Now is your turning point; your challenge is now.
Statistics show that we only use a minute fraction of our brain power. Why would you leave a fortune lying there dormant? Why struggle when the solution is on your finger tips? You are far more capable, powerful, and talented than you realize; certainly more gifted than you have utilized to date. Draw a line in your mental sand. Cut off the past and begin anew. Courage represents the only thing separating you from your grandest vision, your dream of a better life. Take a deep breath, swallow your nervous butterflies or better yet, spit them out, and muster the courage to forge ahead.
2010 is a new year, a new decade, make the most of it. Glance back over your shoulder for just an instant and glimpse your last ten years. Were they everything you ever wanted them to be? Unless you choose a turning point right now, your next ten years will be the same or possibly less fulfilling. Is that a risk you are willing to take?
For some people, the turning point is a look in the mirror. For others it is balancing the bank account. For others it may not be their choice at all; “sorry but we are downsizing and your job is being eliminated.” Divorce creates many turning points. Medical reports force turning points. Why not decide to take charge of your life and your future?
There is a country song about skydiving, going 8 seconds on a bull name Fu Man Chu, and climbing to high peaks.
Decide to make January, 2010 as your turning point. Decide to make the most of your potential and your life. Every one of us was granted at birth with a wonderful creative mind and intelligence beyond our wildest dream. Every one of us possesses a skill or talent superior to anyone and everyone else. Never ever allow anyone to make you ever feel inferior again. You are unique; you are special. You are a wonderful creation.
Dive into your soul and discover your passion. Decide right here and now to go for the gusto and life the next ten years are the beginning of a fabulous future. Regardless of your age, you have the power to decide and take action.
Today is your turning point.

Success Strategy
“Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.”
Sir Winston Churchill
Reading through numerous success quotes reveals a predominant theme. No one achieves success instantaneously. Success arrives through the process of failing over and over, getting back up each time and persisting. The magic secret of all successful people is continuing to strive until the goal is achieved. Time after time we meet obstacles. Those obstacles are only insurmountable if you perceive them as such. Persistent and consistent action on a well designed course of action results in success.
Note the clue of “well designed course of action.” A major part of success is showing up over and over again with the right attitude and a determination which will not be denied.
First define exactly what you desire to achieve. Being very specific about your destination creates the beginning of a success track. Know exactly what success “looks like” for you. Define success in every specific detail: the amount of money, the achievement of a very specific award, an exact number on the scales, comfortably wearing a specific size or a specific garment. Knowing precisely what goal constitutes success to you, is the only way you can quantitatively measure achieving it.
For an athlete, it may be competing in the Olympic Games and winning the gold medal in a specific event. For someone who is dieting and exercising, it may be comfortably zipping and buttoning that favorite pair of test jeans. For someone else it may be earning ten thousand dollars a month or even one hundred thousand dollars a month. Different people have different measures of success.
Bob Dylan, rock star, says, “A person is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do.” Being able to do what you choose to do rather than what you feel you are required to do certainly feels successful. Living life on your terms rather than on someone else’s terms implies a degree of success and freedom. Any time someone else controls your time and duties, you are never totally free.
Success embodies freedom to most people. Entrepreneurialism conveys a degree of freedom to me. It allows me to establish my own duties, my own hours and my own potential lifestyle. Freedom represents an integral part of success to me. Freedom also represents a moving success target. Freedom changes as my success goals evolve. Success changes over the years. What constituted success in my 20s was an entirely different set of criteria than success in my 60s. Success becomes an evolving goal as it should. Ideally, you keep achieving your success target and raising the bar for yourself.
I love Monty Hall’s success quote, “Actually, I’m an overnight success. But it took twenty years.” Set your ideal achievement, what true success looks like to you. Next create a specific plan to achieve that success goal.
If you are an entrepreneur, it will consist of a certain number of customers, a certain amount of earnings or even better, a specific net profit per month. Designing your plan will include knowing which marketing method you prefer. Know how you plan to utilize the marketing method in order to generate the ideal number of customers. What do you need to learn and do in order to implement that marketing successfully?
It will also specify the number of leads or customers you require to generate a specific number of sales. Determine the cost per customer to generate those sales. Calculate the profit per sale and the number of sales required to meet the goal. Specify the time frame in which to accomplish each task.
Take Action.
Know every detail of what you consider your success goal. Design the specific plan to achieve it. Put the plan into action. Give yourself regular checkpoints to determine if you are on schedule. Readjust as necessary. Be persistent and consistent. Success absolutely results with this formula.

Leaders Are Dealers in Hope
Neither Winston Churchill nor Franklin D. Roosevelt were the greatest leaders in history; however, they both inspired their nations in a dark period of stress.
Winston Churchill gave hope to all England during the battle of Britain in the Second World War. As Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, he was noted for his fiery speeches. As an acclaimed orator, his speeches became a great inspiration to the British people and embattled Allied forces. He breathed hope into a troubled nation and a world at war.
Franklin D. Roosevelt gave hope to America during the great depression of the 1930s. FDR’s combination of optimism and economic activism is credited with keeping the American economic crisis from developing into a political crisis. He is the only United States President elected to more than two terms of office. More than any of his executive orders or legislative policies pushed through Congress, he gave America hope when hope was the only possession some citizens had left.
Leaders are dealers in hope.
Once again America is in the clutches of an economic crisis. Honesty requires that we term it as at least a recession and some have dared to use the d word – depression. The good news that permeates every entrepreneur’s heart and soul is the absolute knowing that the only way to fail is to quit. True entrepreneurs are leaders and dealers in hope. A true entrepreneur and leader never quits; instead a leader will change a strategy and attack the problem from a different direction. Leaders and entrepreneurs have a solid basis of hope and knowing that success is closer than others envision.
As a leader and entrepreneur, I’ve changed directions and re-invented myself more than a few times. Giving up and losing hope was never an option. Despite health issues, financial losses and personal relationship collapses, hope always triumphed.
Loss of hope frequently precedes loss of life. Hope kept people alive in concentration camps, wars and economic turmoil. Hope is the magic ingredient which powers people to reach goals the faint hearted would never dare to dream.
John C. Maxwell wrote the following in his book “Think on These Things.”
“What does hope do for humanity?
Hope shines brightest when the hour is darkest.
Hope motivates when discouragement comes.
Hope energizes when the body is tired.
Hope sweetens while the bitterness bites.
Hope sings when all melodies are gone.
Hope believes when the evidence is eliminated.
Hope listens for answers when no one is talking.
Hope climbs over obstacles when no one is helping.
Hope endures hardship when no one is caring.
Hope smiles confidently when no one is laughing.
Hope reaches for answers when no one is asking.
Hope presses toward victory when no one is encouraging.
Hope dares to give when no one is sharing.
Hope brings the victory when no one is winning.”
Leaders and entrepreneurs deal in hope. Leaders and entrepreneurs revel in victory. Come. Visit my website Elaine4Success.com. Restore your hope and faith in the future.
