Economy or Confidence

Chaos reigns supreme in the American economy. Financial woes are shaking the foundation of the global economy as well. Global currency is about as stable as a kernel of corn in hot oil in a pop corn popper. Trying to anticipate and manage the fluctuations in the market right now is similar to asking fireflies to fly in formation. Impossible.

You are walking across a bed of cactus with your bare feet wondering if you will still have a job next week. What will you do if they give you the pink slip and escort you out of the building? Do you start looking for another job just in case? Do you buckle down and work even harder to prove you are worthy of keeping your job? Do you start your own part time business now, just in case?

Put your nerves in a straight jacket and take a deep breath.

Do you really enjoy your current job? What is it about the job that really inspires you? What would you change if you could? Seriously analyze the “yeah I really like this” and “yikes I would love to change that” parts of the job.

1. If the answer becomes crystal clear that there are far more elements that you would change than you like, it is decision time. How feasible is it to change some of the elements you do not like to become more enjoyable? In a perfect world with all options available to you, what would you really like to be doing?

2. If the answer is that you love your job, then the answer becomes very easy. Find ways to be more valuable to your company. Think innovatively and progressively. Increase your net worth to the company.

3. If the answer is “no, I’m only here for the paycheck” then it is time to explore other options. Do you like having a job?” Would you prefer to control your future and operate your own business? Do you have an entrepreneurial itch which has been begging to be scratched? Has that tiny red spot become a widespread patch of poison ivy which screams “get me out of this job and let me create my own enterprise?”

Once the decision has been firmly implanted in your soul to start your own business, what is stopping you? Oh you say, “The economy is really shaky right now. It’s a bad time to start a new business.” Horse feathers. 16 of the 30 companies in the Dow Jones average started in an economic downturn. Economy becomes an excuse not a reason.

Could the real reason be a lack of confidence? Your own personal butterflies are seriously out of formation. You are not certain if you will be able to succeed. Remember when you received your first bicycle? Were you afraid to ride without training wheels in case you fell over? Did it stop you? No. Well, if it did then maybe a business of your own may not be a good idea. You probably forced your hands and knees to stop shaking, gripped the handle bars with a death grip and took off down the hill. So what if you fell a few times in the process, you probably eventually mastered riding without hands. You did not let fear paralyze you.

What happened to that childish daring spirit? Millions of people successfully operate their own businesses. It becomes a matter of confidence and determination triumphing over childish fear.

A troubled economy frequently becomes an advantage because start up costs may be down. Help becomes more readily available because people are seeking part time or full time additional income. Some people simply have more available time to give you helpful hints during a down economy. You may even have more time now. You certainly have more motivation if you are concerned about losing a job. The sooner you get your own business on a solid financial footing, the less you have to be concerned about the loss of a job.
Buck up your courage and do what you have always wanted to do. If you have a dream to have your own business, how many more years do you want to slip by before you start taking charge of your future?

How much Information is Enough?

Don’t you just cringe when you ask a question about an internet business and they say, “just sign up, we’ll tell you what to do later.” Some are almost that bad. There are websites on the internet today which do not tell you what kind of business it is or anything about it.

Caution about getting involved with a business which will not provide any information.

As a potential business purchaser, you have a right to know:

1. The name of the parent company

2. The main product – not all of the details, but the type of product. Is it a juice, telephone card, financial education, marketing education, cosmetics etc.

3. The type of business – franchise, MLM, Network marketing, affiliate program . . .

4. Do you earn from your first sale or have to pass up sales

5. How long has the company been in business

These are basic pieces of information to which you have a right before you invest your hard earned money.

Most people are concerned about:

1. Can I do it?

2. Will you be there after the sale?

3. Is it real? Is it legitimate?

After you filled out your information on the web site, did you receive a telephone call? If they called, where they high pressure sales or genuinely interested in you and your needs? If you did not receive a phone call, was there a number where you could contact them and speak to a live person? In the old days, ten or twenty years ago, you may have been sent to a pre-recorded message on an 800 line and asked to leave your contact information. That technique is rarely used now. Quite frequently now, you may receive a pre-recorded message sent directly to your telephone without your request for the call. That is regarded as a form of telephone spam rather than internet spam email.

How much personal attention do you desire? If you are the type of person who enjoys speaking with a real live human, then you can either call or respond to those who telephone you. Providing a telephone number on the web site is an indication that the owner of the web site is open to speaking with you and providing information to you.

The next step after the initial contact will probably be an email directing you to either a conference call or a web site for more information. This may be a personal email or an auto responder email. How much real information is provided in the email? Once again, have you been provided with contact information to speak directly with the sender?

When you attend the conference call or web site, how much information do you receive in addition to the enthusiasm and sales pitch? If it is all rah rah and no specific product or company information, be careful. The company name should be given for your reference.

Look up the company to determine if it has an excessive number of complaints. Any company which has been in business for 5 or more years will probably have a few grumblers. It is impossible for any person or any company to make 100% of the people happy 100% of the time.

Attorney general complaints are more significant than blogs or whiner chat rooms. Look at the source of the information in the complaint. Better Business Bureau is not a real government bureau; it is a “for profit” company. Much like the Federal Reserve is not actually federal; it is a private profit corporation.

There are a tremendous number of honest, ethical companies available for starting your own business. Being an entrepreneur is a wonderful, exciting and extremely beneficial venture. The important factors are to select the best business for you; select a business which fits your interests, your passion, your goals, your investment and your future income. Ethics and integrity must be present.

The more open and informative the business, the greater the opportunity for you to make a solid decision about what is best for you.

If you would like assistance in sorting through the information and guidance on selecting the best business for you, send me a note in the “contact Elaine” section of www.Elaine4Success.com.

Survive, Strive, Thrive

Life comes in phases – baby to young adult to senior citizen. Business displays the same phases.

Survivors are people whose attitude of minimum effort allows them to just survive; they choose to do as little as possible to get through life. You will find these people on the welfare roles. An upscale version of this appears in the cute kid who expects life to hand them everything they want with zero effort on their part. You know the female who seeks a sugar daddy or plays the “I’m cute so give to me” attitude. Guys are not exempt either even though there are less in the “I am handsome and full of muscles so give me’ category. America has unfortunately encouraged an entitlement society.

Survivors take from society rather than contributing to its growth.

Our ancestors were hard working industrious people. They were strivers. Prospectors who mined for gold endured extreme weather, shortages of food, and rudimentary shelter. Early settlers in the West endured dust storms, insect devastation of crops, Indian attacks, as well as the most basic of living conditions. Our ancestors who crossed the ocean in steerage compartments were directed past the machinery, down deep stairways into the enclosed cramped quarters of the lower decks; they lived or died in the absolute minimal accommodations. Today these pioneers are the single mothers who scrape by to care for their children by working two jobs. The strivers are the people, young and middle age, who attend night school or study at the library to advance their knowledge and value in the workplace. The strivers are the ones who sacrifice the weekend party to learn and grow and provide a better future for themselves and their families.

The strivers are the ambitious determined citizens who will not settle for just getting through life; they are committed to improving themselves. Strivers contribute to society. Our nation was founded by strivers. If we are to emerge from our current economic dilemma, it will be due to the strivers. Entrepreneurs are strivers. Entrepreneurs contribute to the improvement of conditions for the entire society.

As an entrepreneur’s mentor, there is a responsibility to encourage strivers. Entrepreneurs work closely with coaches and their entrepreneur’s mentors to constantly tweak and improve their performance. Entrepreneurs constantly strive for improvement. Our nation was founded by and for entrepreneurs. Our forefathers did not risk their lives and all of their worldly possessions to beget a nation of survivors and folks who expected a hand out.

The quarrel is not with those who genuinely need and deserve assistance; the verbal “kick in the pants” is directed at the capable but lazy. Entitlement mentality people frequently have the ability but not the motivation to get off the couch and earn their way forward.

America doffs its hat in respect to the strivers, the entrepreneurs. Being an entrepreneur’s mentor becomes an honor and a valuable use of time in extending wisdom to assist others in moving forward.

Thrivers have arrived. Thrivers epitomize the result of striving and accomplishing. Thrivers earned their success through concentrated focused goal oriented efforts. Look throughout history at the successful leaders in every aspect of society. Every one of them endured challenges, setbacks, and adversity; each one of them persevered through the speed bumps of life. The thrivers are the strivers who remained steadfast to their goals until they arrived.

Thrivers earned their reward. Most thrivers were entrepreneurs. Whether they chose a career in business, one of the performing arts, education or science, they dedicated themselves to their future.

Question yourself if you have chosen to be a survivor and draw from society rather than contribute to it.

Be proud of yourself for being an entrepreneur and a striver. Celebrate your success as a thriver. America grew to be the greatest nation through the efforts of the strivers, the entrepreneurs. Be proud to be a striver and a thriver.

Identify Your Unique Brand

Remember the theme song from Rocky, theme song from Bonanza, theme songs from your favorite commercials? Theme songs are brands; these are unique identifiers of a specific product, person or production.

Sports fans wear the team colors of their favorite team. One man in Michigan was such an avid fan of University of Michigan that he actually decorated his Christmas tree in maize and blue. Team colors represent another way of branding.

Companies use colors to brand themselves. IBM was noted as Big Blue. Colors in the logo identify specific companies. Cascade comes in a green box; Ivory soap arrives wrapped in a white cover with blue writing. Colors form an image in our mind of a company or product.

Logos are another identifying factor. Big G forms the association of General Mills. The letter L in a circle on a vehicle represents Lexus. Automobile manufacturers all have a logo which identifies the company. Branding is critical.

Comedians have a tag line which brands them. When you hear the line, “Take my wife, please,” you automatically associate the name Henny Youngman. Henny was the king of the one liner. Rodney Dangerfield coined the line, “I don’t get no respect.”

Avis car rental capitalized on being number two by saying they try harder because they are number two. Enterprise car rental focuses on the customer service of personalized pick up and delivery.

Branding comes in many forms. Logos, music, colors and one liners are all forms of branding. Every speaker, writer, performer or business person adopts their own individual style and market niche. Identifying and monetizing your brand becomes your unique selling position. Advertising frequently refers to this as your USP; your unique selling position identifies you and differentiates you from everyone else.

Identifying and promoting yourself is critical. Think about your strength, your individual qualification which sets you apart from everyone else. What special talent, ability or experience do you possess which will entice people to choose to work with you? Everyone has something they do better than everyone else. Find your special niche. You have something to contribute. Maybe you are an excellent writer. Perhaps your special field of knowledge and interest is computers. Web design may be one of your attraction points.

Your branding may relate to your former career. Former corporate executives speak the language of experience of other executives; develop your brand around attracting those who relate to your background. A former marine focuses on attracting other marines; they identify with similar training and mindset. One truck driver started writing articles about long haul problems; he speaks to the pain of other truck drivers who also want to be off the road and at home with their families.

Develop your personal brand, your unique selling position. There is something special about you which attracts others to work with you. Every entrepreneur, company and individual performer seeks their special niche. You have often heard the expression, ”get rich in a niche.” Identifying and promoting your individual brand represents step one in your marketing and business plan.

Home based businesses such as network marketing and MLM entrepreneurs are even more concerned with branding because their product is identical to everyone else in the same company. Does that mean it is impossible to create a niche for yourself in network marketing or MLM? Absolutely not. Developing yourself as an individual brand, an individual leader becomes even more important in home based businesses.

Every actor and actress seeks something which sets them apart from all of the others. This same principle applies to every entrepreneur and every business. Find your brand. Identify your unique selling position and promote it consistently throughout all of your marketing.

Identify your brand and monetize it. Your bank account and income statement will thank you. If you want specific personalized suggestions on identifying your brand, join me at www.Elaine4Success.com.

Perspective on Success

Attention Entrepreneurs!

Anything which gets in the way of your goal constitutes a distraction. Medical school is an extremely worthwhile and valuable activity, but not unless you are choosing a career in the medical profession. If your goal is to become a network marketer, medical school is a distraction.

Focus on your goals. Focus on your strengths. Regain perspective in your life.

Look seriously at your perspective on your life and your business. Today’s activities determine tomorrow’s success. Your greatest moment, your greatest achievement, your greatest adventure can be and should be in the future. The future is within your control. The past by the very nature of it being the past can not be changed. The new you strains to be created. New potential, new achievement and new experiences await you. Each new dawn brings wonder and joy. The future hold excitement if you allow it.

Yesterday remains a memory. Learn from it, yes, but leave it behind you. Look ahead to what you can be tomorrow. Where are you going with your life?

There was a passage in “The Noticer” by Andy Andrews about two men sitting on the beach eating. When asked what he was eating, one man answered, “Vienna sausages and sardines.” When asked where he was eating, he replied, “I’m sitting in the sand.” “Ah,” his companion replied, “it is all in your perspective. I am dining on surf and turf with an ocean view.” Perspective makes all the difference.

What perspective governs your life? Are you grateful for the blessings, advantages and talents you possess or grumbling about the challenges you face?

Life hands each and every one of us opportunities every day. How we choose to view those opportunities determines the difference between the successful and the failures. Viewing a new business striving for success can be frustration and stress or excitement about the potential. Check your perspective.

I’ve been to many hospitals and each time I hear the new baby pronounced as a boy or a girl. Never have I heard a new baby pronounced as an entrepreneur. Being an entrepreneur is a learned skill. Yes, there are some of us who are psychologically unemployable. We have that intense inner burning desire to create and take control of our income and our future. We are the leaders. We are the risk takers.

An entrepreneur has a different perspective on life. We take charge. We take action. Our perspective is that life is fun. Life and business are challenges to be internalized. We dine on surf and turf with an ocean view. We see the potential in every opportunity.

Entrepreneurs have an excited perspective on life and business.

You are extraordinary. Touch base with your perspective in every situation. Never allow yourself to feel inadequate. One of the problems of living in the greatest nation in the world is that our perspective of entitlement gets skewed. We take our advantages for granted. Because our entire experience has been in a nation of abundance, regardless of our personal circumstances, we have more freedom and potential here than any other nation in the world. Our perspective gets tainted. We expect good opportunities to flow to us in such abundance that we do not always dig deep in our being to discover our own talents and strengths.

Dine on surf and turf with an ocean view. Use a positive perspective in every aspect of your life. Tap into your passion. Discover your talents and strengths.

Depending on your perspective, life can be a thrilling adventure or drudgery. You choose. Opportunity is a choice. Entrepreneurialism is a choice. Your perspective is a choice.

Set Point

Set Point

In tennis, the final point which allows one player or team to win the set. A set is typically when one player or team wins at least 6 games and wins two more games than their opponents.

Any one who has ever dieted also knows that their weight seems to have a metabolic set point. This is the mark on the scale which your body seems to return to time after time. Unless a significant change in behavior and eating pattern occurs, the weight always returns to the same number of pounds. Note the key difference becomes making a significant change in the type of foods consumed, quantity of food consumed and the behavior. Going on a diet and returning to the same behavior and eating pattern as before the diet is pointless. A significant behavior change must occur to keep the weight at the lower level.

Your finances also have a set point. The reason most lottery winners return to the same level of poverty as before they won the lottery, is that their money management behavior did not change. Statistics show that lottery winners go from broke to wealth and back to broke within three years. Why did they lose all of those windfall earnings? The spending patterns and money management behavior remained the same; there was simply more money to spend for a few years. A significant behavior change must result in order for the end result to be different. Financial education consists of managing money with a fresh new mindset. In order to elevate your financial set point, there must be changes.

Change the amount of money you mentally deserve. Surprised? Amazing how many people have deservability issues with money. Some of those issues stem from our childhood and the discussions within our family of origin. If we heard statements such as “filthy rich” or “money does not grow on trees,” those statements unconsciously set a negative image of money in our programming. One of the statements which causes me to cringe is “I may be poor but I’m a good person.” Once again, the implication pervades that being a good person and being wealthy are opposites. Determine your internal beliefs about money. Chances are that some of your original programming needs a revamp.

Unless you readjust your mental and emotional financial thermostat, you have tied both hands behind your back and placed a gag in your mouth in terms of speaking and receiving wealth. You have also placed a lead weight on the water level of your bank balance. You have predetermined yourself to sink into debt rather than float along in affluence.

Many home business entrepreneurs discover this economic dilemma. Home business opportunities are frequently highly lucrative. A large income can be earned with extremely low overhead. If you are struggling with your home based business, it may be that your financial thermostat is set so low that you are unintentionally blocking success and income. In other cases, home based business entrepreneurs experience tremendous success and then plunge backward because they have not reset their financial thermostat to believe they deserve wealth and success.

Financial set points affect many areas of life. People have been known to deny themselves dream vacations, new homes, new cars and various other material possessions because they did not feel that they deserved such rewards.

Examine your early programming about money and success. Look deeply into your feelings and deservability surrounding money and success. You will probably discover that you have unintentionally been blocking your own path to wealth and freedom.

For more specific ideas on raising your financial set point, contact Elaine at www.Elaine4Success.com. Let me help you make forward progress toward the success and financial freedom you deserve. Let me help you raise your financial thermostat.

Find Your Passion

Yes, I know writing about passion with a name like mine brings all sorts of images to the mind. Passion is the key to all the most important aspects in your life.

A study of two groups of one hundred people each revealed some interesting discoveries. One group was comprised of people seeking wealth as the primary objective and selecting the career they felt would achieve that goal the most rapidly. The second group focused on following their passionate mission in life and creating their career based on their passion first and wealth as a by product.

Twenty years later the groups were surveyed again. Over 83 per cent of the millionaires were from the group which pursued passion first and allowed the wealth to come to them as a secondary benefit.

Following your passion smoothes many of the roadblocks on the way to success. The roadblocks, speed bumps and even the brick walls still exist. The difference maker becomes your mental attitude about dealing with the obstacles. Another significant difference relates to the focus. MLM and network marketing have the reputation of attracting “program jumpers.” Program jumpers are seeking the latest and greatest money making opportunity. Does that mean there is anything wrong with earning money and being rewarded for your time and effort? Of course not. Being a program jumper does speak to primary motivation. Yes, it is not uncommon for someone to experience a few different industries and a few different companies before they locate their niche. Most highly successful entrepreneurs did not hit their stride with their first venture.

Program jumpers stay within the same MLM or network marketing industry; however, they jump to each new startup company. They stay a few months or a year and jump to the next one. Do they make money? Some do. Are they fulfilled? Their track record of program jumping indicates NO.

Following your passion tends to be longer term and maintains a more consistent theme. Examine your goals and motivation. Do you look forward eagerly to beginning each new day? Are you experiencing apprehension about each day’s activities and results? How do you measure your success; do you measure by your bank balance or your feelings of accomplishment?

Tap into your passion and you are tapping in to your true potential. At the end of our day, our career, our life, what will be the legacy you leave for others? A peaceful heart will leave a legacy of satisfaction for having contributed to the lives of others. The pain of regret for not following your passion weighs heavily on your heart regardless of the amount on your financial statement.

You can follow your passion. You choose how you spend your life and your career. You can spend it living as if you are forcing a square peg into a round hole. Or you can live life on your terms. Feel the thrill of satisfaction for having lived life pursuing your passion. History records success stories of numerous entrepreneurs who attempted many ventures but their real fortune and their satisfaction was only achieved when they followed their passion.

Tap in to your feelings. Tap in to your passion. Within your passion, you will find your greatest achievement and your greatest satisfaction.

For more helpful articles and personal coaching, come see me at www.Elaine4Success.com I salute you for the courage to follow your passion.

Entrepreneur

Success and life are a package deal. How many of us focus so much on one part that we neglect other essential parts? Probably the most common violation is the workaholic. Yes, we convince ourselves that it is our responsibility as head of the household to provide a living for our family, and that is true. Now before you get defensive, I have been totally guilty of exactly that logic.

Throwing myself into my work 80 and 90 hours a week with the self-inflicted justification that it was essential seemed like the right decision at the time. Now that I look back and see all of the school events I missed and the landmark occasions in my son’s lives, I question that logic. Was it really worth it? Viewing that decision through the eyes of my sons, the perspective changes.

How many of us have spent so many hours providing for the physical and materialistic needs of our families that we have neglected the mental and emotional needs? As a young high school teacher, before I started my own family, I observed so my students who had every possible materialistic possession. They wore designer clothes. They drove expensive cars. They lived in affluent neighborhoods. Far too many of them were seeking attention and approval, sometimes from the wrong sources. In our striving to provide for the material possessions, it becomes too easy to give money rather than focused time.

As a single mother, I know I am guiltier of that than I would like to admit. Yes, I rushed home from work as quickly as possible and spent every weekend moment possible with the boys; however, I missed far too much. Any of you relate to this scenario? Thought so.

What if there was an alternative where you could set your own schedule and work around your kids activities rather than during those school events? What if I could you’re you a way to earn at least as much income as you do now and have total control of your future earnings? Yes, it really is not only possible but probable.

The home based business industry is the fastest growing industry in the world right now.

People are learning that corporate America does not have the security it once possessed. Jobs are going overseas. Companies are downsizing. Unfortunately some companies are closing their doors totally. Retirement plans were defined benefit plans; the company funded them for the employee, in the 1950s. Retirement plans have now become defined contribution plans, the employee contributes and sometimes the company matches the employee’s contribution. When a defined contribution plan runs out of money, it’s done. Even worse what if the company goes out of business and the retirement plan disappears along with the company?

The only true security and control for the future lies in being an entrepreneur. Business owners control their time, their current earnings, their future earnings and their retirement.

I’ve been and employee, a small business owner (brick and mortar business) and a home based business entrepreneur. Personally speaking, I am so thankful for the opportunities and future as a home based business entrepreneur. I’ve tried the others. I love my life now. Now that I fully grasp the joy of being a home based business owner, I must admit that I am now psychologically unemployable.

Come check it out for yourself. See if this will answer your goals and lifestyle dreams. Visit Elaine4Success.com and enter your information. Let’s design a plan for your future.

Game On

The secret of victory resides in the practice before the game. The team who drills with serious planning and preparation for every possible situation during the days and weeks before the game, almost always performs better during the game. Most speeches are a success or failure before the speaker ever steps on the stage. Most sales presentations are closed or rejected before the presentation folder is ever opened.

The key is preparation. You will never hear your boss tell you to practice all week in order to make one sales call on Friday afternoon. That would be absurd. It is a known fact that being prepared and ready to speak intelligently smoothes the path to success.
Relaxed confidence comes from preparation.

A professional athlete practices for hours and hours to perfect his skill. A professional musician practices countless hours before a performance. A professional salesman has researched his product line and if possible has researched the needs of the customer before they ever walk in the door of the customer’s office. When I am delivering a speech, I have rehearsed it numerous times and perfected the timing, gestures and emphasis on words in order to maximize the impact. I know precisely the time required.

With a home based business, you will not be able to research the needs of the customer in advance; however, you do have the opportunity to determine certain important questions in advance. Personally, the more I know about the specific circumstances, goals and abilities of each individual, the more quickly and efficiently I can assist them in reaching their desired outcome. Each individual arrives with a different set of skills, desires, budget and time available to achieve those goals. Personalization assists preparation in designing your individual plan.

Game on for a home based business professional means caring about each person. That doe not mean doing everything for them. It does mean guiding them in the correct direction to find the answers and resources best suited for their individual situation. No one wants to be “thrown to the wolves” when they start a new business. In fact, that is one of the fears of a new entrepreneur; will you be there after the sale?

The home based business professional walks a fine line between being there enough to provide support and guidance or either leaving the new entrepreneur feeling abandoned or hand holding to the extent that the new business owner does not learn. Sometimes this is a razor thin line because each person is unique.

I am very good at many things, but mind reading is not one of them.

Let me know what you need but also be willing to learn and perform tasks on your own. Most resources and answers are available in the back office. Look once or twice or even three times before you dash off a quick email or pick up the phone to plead for help.

Athletes, musicians, entrepreneurs, and all professionals seek guidance and examples of excellent performances. Professionals ask intelligent revealing questions, practice and follow through on the information and skills until they reach the competency level desired. “Game on” means treating your business like a business and not like an occasional hobby. Professionals are always in “game on” mode. Professional entrepreneurs are not part time or some time but all-the-time achievers.

Soar With the Eagles

Don’t send a duck to eagle school. It will frustrate the duck and puzzle the eagles. Eagle flying school is designed for stretching the wings of the eagles so they can soar higher and faster.

Training a new entrepreneur resembles eagle school. Wealth is always created through being an entrepreneur not through an employee status. The entrepreneur’s mindset resembles the eagle. Eagles stretch their wings and soar high and far. Entrepreneurs develop their creativity and achieve to the height of their desire, ambition and persistence. There are no limits to the vision and achievement of true entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurs are business owners; they take charge of their destiny and find a way to make all of their dreams come true. Business owners do not walk around boo-hooing their circumstances; they find a way over, under, around or through the issue until they reach their goal.

Not one successful business owner has achieved their goals without a few challenges. The challenges make us stronger, more creative and better leaders. How can we possibly expect to lead and guide others to reach their full potential unless we have experienced a few personal challenges?

Abraham Lincoln failed over and over; however he persisted until he emancipated an entire race. This list depicts 12 failures and 3 successes. He succeeded every 5th time.
• 1831 - Lost his job
• 1832 - Defeated in run for Illinois State Legislature
• 1833 - Failed in business
• 1834 - Elected to Illinois State Legislature (success)
• 1835 - Sweetheart died
• 1836 - Had nervous breakdown
• 1838 - Defeated in run for Illinois House Speaker
• 1843 - Defeated in run for nomination for U.S. Congress
• 1846 - Elected to Congress (success)
• 1848 - Lost re-nomination
• 1849 - Rejected for land officer position
• 1854 - Defeated in run for U.S. Senate
• 1856 - Defeated in run for nomination for Vice President
• 1858 - Again defeated in run for U.S. Senate
• 1860 - Elected President (success)
Edison failed 10,000 times before he created the electric light bulb.

Napoleon Hill suffered every possible setback on his way to authoring the most significant business book written on the method of achieving wealth – Think and Grow Rich.

Eagles do not walk around on the ground feeling sorry for themselves or giving up at the first sign of challenge. Neither do entrepreneurs. They find a way to stretch their wings and soar to new heights.

How about you? How determined are you to reach your goals? Are you a duck walking around quacking and flapping your wings but stuck on the ground? Are you an eagle reaching for the clouds?

Have a fabulous day soaring through the clouds on your way to the success you so richly deserve.

You Deserve Prosperity

As a professional speaker and a seasoned entrepreneur, I have experienced various challenges and various attitudes in my career.
As a professional speaker, it warms my heart to see audiences come alive. When people truly “get it” and understand that they not only can but should be happy and prosperous, it is so rewarding. One of the things which gives me so much pleasure is knowing that I am providing value, inspiration and enjoyment to my audiences. Providing positive information which people can directly and immediately apply to their lives gives value to them and satisfaction to me. One of the ways to know that you are in the right profession is the feeling that you enjoy what you do so much that you look forward to each new day.
Dr. Srikumar Roa, noted professor of Columbia Business School and the London Business School. Spoke in the September, 2009 Success magazine cd about his philosophy. He advocates knowing you are doing fulfilling work when you are so grateful that you feel like going down on your knees in gratitude. This deep sense of fulfillment provides the creativity to move your business and your life forward.
Speaking gives me that feeling of pleasure and excitement.
Some experts have even said that if you love your work so much that you would do it for free, then you know you are in the right place doing the right thing. Now I am not advocating that you stop earning a living, but it is a serious check on your feelings toward your career and your life.
My entrepreneurial career has spanned decades. I can honestly say that I have loved the adventure and growth achieved from all of my various professional challenges. Something good comes from absolutely every experience when you truly look for the benefit. Seek the frustration and disappointment and you will find exactly that. Seek growth and potential value in each challenge and you will find precisely that value.
My professional career started on my 21st birthday when I walked into the law class of 40 senior high school boys. As a college graduate who was less than 3 years older than the majority of the students in the class, it was interesting. Add to that the fact that I am very feminine and my last name is LOVE. Yes, it provided varied reactions within the group.
Next I managed a chain of Goodyear tire dealerships in Detroit Michigan in the 60s and 70s. Once again, a challenge. Being a feminine lady in a male dominated industry required being the epitome of femininity and professionalism in order to maintain authority.
Owning a property management company in a premier Colorado ski resort and then learning internet marketing as my next two professional endeavors have all provided education and challenge. Fortunately, I have grown as a professional and as a person.
All of this knowledge, experience and passion weave themselves through my professional speaking and my coaching. Effective speeches deal with topics you truly know. Extensive reading, study and personal development enhance the value presented and experienced by the audience. In order to give more, you must become more. My goal is to present value, inspiration and enjoyment to my audiences.

Responsibility Erases the Blame Game

None of us are perfect. We all make mistakes. The mark of a leader and a mature person is the ability to step up to the situation and take responsibility for their part.

Taking responsibility does not mean becoming a door mat or letting people walk all over them. It means accepting your rightful share of the results – good or bad. Jim Rohn, noted business philosopher, reminds us to accept the harvest of rewards without apology when the results are good and without complaint when they are not good.

In business it is all too common to hear the blame game in full force. “I want to change sponsors; my sponsor doesn’t help me.” Or I hear, “My sponsor doesn’t return my calls or emails; I just can’t get any help.” Actually in my company there are over 24 live training calls every week, over 100 hours of current recorded training calls, extensive video and text training, business coaches and a very active forum for questions. The sponsor is not the only source of information and assistance. Yes, having an informed and responsive sponsor is very important, but the sponsor is not the only source of training.

Bottom line is that when you start a home based business, a brick and mortar business or a franchise, it is your business. You have responsibility to learn the training provided and take action on that training. Sitting back and saying, ”come do it for me” is not taking responsibility.

A new business owner will have a learning curve. Learning curves are a part of life. Every time we start something new, there is a learning curve. Some things have a shorter curve than others to be certain, but they all require some effort. You can read about riding a bike. You can watch someone ride a bike. Sooner or later if you really want to learn how to ride a bike you have to get on the bike and start riding. Will you fall over? Yes. Get back on and start peddling again. Having your sponsor tell you how to ride or even watching the sponsor ride will not complete the step of you learning how to ride.

As long as the blame game is in full force, no real learning will occur and probably no real progress either. Progress occurs when you step out of your comfort zone and dig in and start learning and taking action.

Playing the blame game is avoiding responsibility. Leaders and top producers never waste time and energy on non-productive emotions, actions or words. Blaming others is an absolute waste of energy. Leaders take responsibility.

Head Games

Sometimes we unintentionally get in our own way of success. We allow the “monkey chatter” to instill doubts and hesitation. Our friends, family and co-workers add to that monkey chatter weakening our resolve to succeed.

I love my family dearly; however, they are not always on exactly the same success track as I have laid out for myself. For some strange reason because I have been successful in the past and I am 65, they seem to think I should retire and stay retired. Personally, I love stimulating conversations and new ventures to entice my mind to grow. The rocking chair and mindless coffee club chit chat is totally unappealing to me.

Co-workers who are set in the employee mindset simply do not understand that drive deep in your soul to create and grow your own business. If they are stuck in the “a job means security and a regular paycheck’ mentality, they resist stepping out of that comfort zone. Paul Zane Pilzer, economic adviser to 2 presidents declares that having a job is far more risk, especially in the current economy, than owning your own business. This is the age and time of the entrepreneur. More fortune 500 companies started during an economic downturn than at any other time in history. A job is risky. You have no control over how long it will exist or your future income.

Jim Rohn, noted business philosopher, reminds us that in order for things to change, we must change. In order for us to receive more, we must become more. Is that always easy, absolutely not. Is it worth the nervous butterflies right now in order to achieve your goals for the future? Speaking from personal experience – absolutely YES. I am psychologically unemployable. I am an entrepreneur. I seriously tried to be a good employee several times in my life and found that I was pushing at the corners and stretching the walls of the box that employment placed around me. I do not belong in a cubicle. I do not thrive in an atmosphere where I am being told what to do and when to do it. Do you relate to that feeling?

Entrepreneurs have a different mindset than employees. We just do. That is not a bad thing. In fact, that exact mindset is what created America in the first place. Our forefathers came to this country to remove themselves from control and build their businesses. When they did not get the freedom they wanted, they rebelled. That very act of standing up for their creative entrepreneurial desires created a great country and freedom for all of us.

Listen to your feelings and your instincts and dare to create the life you deserve. Jim Rohn, also said there are people you can spend an hour with, but not a day or a day but not a week. Respect your family, friends and co-workers but follow your heart and passion. Get in touch with your deep desires for your future. Put a gag on the monkey chatter and refuse to listen to it. You deserve succe4ss. You deserve to have it all.

Life is to be lived, loved and enjoyed. Why condemn yourself to mediocrity when you can step out of your comfort zone and reach for the moon. If you miss the moon and hit the stars, you are still ahead of being stuck in a mud puddle where you are miserable.

My mission is to improve the lives of everyone I touch – personally, professionally and financially. Reach for your dreams. I did and I am. I love my life. My desire is that you love your life as well.

Entrepreneurs Pave the Path to Wealth

What does wealth mean to you? Different societies define wealth differently. Probably the most common interpretation relates to the amount of money one earns. Or perhaps a high net worth. In a third world country, it may be as basic as owning a housing structure or having enough food to eat.

The American Heritage dictionary defines wealth as “an abundance of valuable material possessions or resources; riches.” This definition seems to closely align the American concept. Actually the term “wealth” derives from the old English word “weal.” which means well-being or welfare. Amazing isn’t it how far we have strayed. Current terminology has wealth and welfare at the absolute opposite ends of the economic scale.

The current preoccupation of many, if not most, North Americans revolves around wealth creation. Robert Kiyosaki details his ideas in his cash-flow quadrant. He explains the least likely employment status for financial security is as an employee. As an employee you have very little control over your income, duties or work schedule. Consequently, an employee has the least likelihood of wealth creation.

Self-employed status raises the bar slightly. At least in this capacity, the individual retains more control of time, earnings and creativity. Being a self-employed entrepreneur increases the potential for wealth creation. Michael Gerber agrees that “The entrepreneur in us sees opportunities everywhere we look, but many people see only problems everywhere they look. The entrepreneur in us is more concerned with discriminating between opportunities than he or she is with failing to see the opportunities.” Now take pure entrepreneurship to an even higher level on the cash-flow quadrant. Rise from self-employed to business owner. The business owner has ultimate control over income, work schedule and business creativity. Not only that, but the business owner leverages individual time and effort by also earning from the time, effort and creativity of his/her employees. At the business owner level, income is no longer restricted to personal production. At this point, entrepreneurship not only buds but develops full blown blossoms. Entrepreneurs thrive on creativity.

Entrepreneurs existed from the beginning of history. People have been creating, inventing and trading from the beginning of time. Even though the forms and techniques of business have changed with the evolution of commerce, the basic principles thread throughout history. Entrepreneurs have been creating wealth since the Stone Age. Entrepreneurs are the life blood on an economy. They stimulate the circulation of money. Entrepreneurs in a real sense are the creators of wealth and a stable economy.

Wealth creation remains a primary focus of most entrepreneurs. When we list the wealthiest people of the world, we see the names of Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Henry Ford, and Donald Trump to name just a few. Each and every one of these wealthy men created their fortunes through entrepreneurship. In fact, most of them progressed from self-employed to business owner to investor. Investor is the ultimate in the cash-flow quadrant. With investor status, your money works for you instead of you working for your money.

As a rule, wealth creation is not an overnight process. The only instant acceleration to wealth is likely to be winning the lottery. Personally, I would not count on that method. Becoming an entrepreneur and progressing from self-employed through business owner to investor remains the most likely and most predictable method. Predictable, if you seize the opportunity when it presents itself. When opportunity knocks, the prepared answer the door. The lazy complain about the noise. Are you prepared and ready to seize the moment? Entrepreneurs eagerly answer the door.

Entrepreneurs take risks. They exhibit focus, commitment, determination, creativity and persistence. Is the road to riches always smooth and upward? No. It is not. Study the financial path of most extremely wealthy individuals and you will find scary financial lows immediately before the huge explosion to wealth. Jim Rohn talks about not having $2.00 to buy Girl Scout cookies. That was his turning point to achieve his fame and fortune. Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hanson experienced extreme financial lows immediately before the Chicken Soup series skyrocketed to the top of the charts. No one said the entrepreneurship road was smooth and easy, but it certainly has wonderful results for those determined souls who persist. Winners persist and achieve. To true entrepreneurs, failure is not an option. Opportunities are usually wearing a disguise of work clothes. Or as Ann Landers phrased it “Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don’t recognize them.”

Ah what sweet rewards for those who are innovative, consistent and persistent. Entrepreneurs create wealth. The recently released billionaire list was composed of eighty percent (80%) entrepreneurs. Are you ready for the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship? Are you ready for wealth? Success is a choice. Wealth is a choice.
